Sample Collection Device

Tasks:



  • Project involved reducing hold up volume and simplifying user steps

  • Improve sample yield from the collection swab



  Unique Features/Challenges:



  • Developed normally closed split septum that is opened when the sample collection device is snapped into the cartridge.  This design also improved product perception by reducing user exposure to sample.

  • Developed geometry which improved sample yield from the swab while improving the ability for sample to mix with reagents
