Symbient wishes to congratulate our client, Drawbridge Health, for their recent achievement of the OneDraw™ Blood Collection Device, which received the Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2020.
The OneDraw Blood Collection Device, which is part of the FDA-cleared OneDraw A1C Test System, is a breakthrough in the collection, stabilization, and transport of blood samples, and enables blood collection anytime, anywhere, conveniently and comfortably. Once the OneDraw device collects the blood, the sample is stabilized in a removable cartridge, which can then be sent via regular mail to a laboratory for HbA1c testing. The OneDraw device was designed to be a “closed system” in which the sample is pulled into the device and remains stable for up to 3 weeks. There’s no need for cold chain transport.
Symbient is proud to have supported the design, prototyping, and assembly work for the novel OneDraw Blood Collection Device. Together we created the removable cartridge for sample storage and transport and set out to achieve the goal of creating a great user experience with a pain-free blood draw. This was accomplished through the actuation of tiny lancets with light vacuum suction in a device that fits in the palm of your hand and is light enough to remain on your arm during a blood draw independently. In addition to reducing pain, this approach lowers the risks associated with venipuncture or fingerstick while collecting 150 µL of blood.
The innovative OneDraw Blood Collection Device will soon be added to the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, displaying all Red Dot Award recipients, past and present from across the globe. Internationally recognized, the Red Dot Award symbolizes exceptional design quality and is highly revered throughout the world. With the many accomplishments that this device brings to the market, the Red Dot Award is well deserved.
Congratulations again to our friends at Drawbridge Health!
